‘Safely Home’ app launched in Gurgaon

GURGAON: A road safety app was launched in the city on Sunday. The app, Safely Home, doesn’t require you to press a panic button in the event of an emergency. It sends out an SOS to the police, ambulance and your family when the phone is damaged in an accident. The app also provides live city traffic feed and roadside assistance.

Ishan Jindal, an IIT-Delhi student, started working on the app two years ago. His aim was to create an app that is fully automatic in detecting road accidents to provide early help to road accident victims .

“Over 300 people have been using the app on trial basis in Delhi ,” said Jindal.

The app was launched at an advanced first-aid workshop at a private hospital by commissioner of police, Navdeep Singh Virk. “The app will be presented to people on the next Car Free Day,” said Virk
