Mahatma Gandhi’s message of truth and non-violence even more relevant

Governor Shri Ram Naresh Yadav has said that Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi’s message of truth and non-violence has become even more relevant in present era. He exhorted youths to re-build a strong India drawing inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals. The Governor addressed an all-religion meeting at Gandhi Bhavan here today. He also garlanded a photograph of former Prime Minister late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary.

The Governor said that Mahatma Gandhi was not only spearhead of country’s freedom movement, but also a source of inspiration for us. Following path of truth and non-violence throughout his life, he gave message of non-violence, peace, harmony and unity to the world. United Nations has announced to observe October 2 as World Non-violence Day. The Governor also quoted inspiring anecdotes of Mahatma Gandhi’s life. He said that Mahatma Gandhi was champion of Swadeshi movement. He worked for welfare of poorest of the poor. The Governor also remembered former Prime Minister late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri. He said that late Shastri had given slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan” to boost morale of farmers and army personnel.

Students Chitranshu Shrivastava and Palakshit Joshi presented Bapu’s favourite Bhajans with the cooperation of R.S. Creation. The Governor gave away prizes to winners of various competitions based on Mahatma Gandhi’s life. The programme was conducted by Shri Mahesh Dayal. At the outset, the Governor paid garlanded photographs of Mahatma Gandhi and Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri.
